can anyone suggest how to seperate acetone+methanol mixture?

Feed composition : Acetone:81%,methanol : 16%,water :3%
Desired purity : Acetone:99%,METHANOL : 0.1%,WATER: LESS THAN 1.0%

Presently we are doing extractive distillation with water but however we cannot able to acheive the above purity.

Looking at equilibrium curve I have generated using PROII, it tells you you have an azeotrope at a composition of 80% mol. This means you cannot get more than that separation without changing the compositon. The curve was generated at atmospheric pressure.

Dear mostashar,
Eventhough it is an azeotrope we can able to bring methanol content 1% by addition of water(extractive distillation). My question is how to reduce methanol content further (<0.1%)?

Thanx

Have you tried to use Hysys, Aspen or PRO II to simulate the column and think of some debottlenecking.
