Hello ChemEng Gurus,
I would greatly appreciate some points in the right direction, as I think I may be incredibly confused around this area of heat transfer.
We are on a project of converting plastics into diesel oil. We have a screw barrel of length 4.46 mt . The outer surface of the barrel is exposed to 400 deg celsius through a heater of 264 kw. Inside surface has to be maintained at 400 deg celsius. I want to know how to calculate the time required to maintain the same temperature ( 400 deg Celsius) at the inside surface of the Barrel. Inner diameter is 170mm and outside diameter is 320mm. All the suitable formula to calculate rate of heat flow?
