Hi all,
Can anyone explain what is meant by "thermally Set" on a relief valve?
Much Appreciated,

Please be more specific where you saw this term.
An ASME certified relief valve works off of pressure, NOT temperature. Even what we tend to call a thermal relief valve is a Pressure relief valve. There is a temperature that goes along with the set pressure and there is a temperature at which the PSV is tested at. Perhaps this is what you are referring to?
Again, please be more specific where you saw this term.

Dear Phil,
Thanks for your response. To be more specific i work at an LNG facility. Thermal relief has been used in refridegerant pipelines where it is suspected that in the event that there is accummulation to some section not in use during operation, any vaporization that would lead to pressure build up will be relieved.
thanks again for your response.
Best regards,
Imtiaz.
