Dear Cheresources,
can some body enlighten me the difference between edible phos acid and commercial acid. How can the edible Phos Acid is manufactured from commercial acid.

G'men,
The main application of commercial phosphoric acid is for manufacture of phosphatic fertilisers and other industrial products. The acid is made from Phosphate rock (containing tri calcium Phosphate and impuriyies like Fe Mg F Sio2 and traces of radio active materials etc)

But the application of edible acid is for use in animal feed, soft drinks etc and hence requires thorough purification steps.

Please refer book on Phos acid by 1 AV Slack and 2 Becker (both from Marcel and Decker} for more on the subject.

Phosphoric acid can be manufactured by two method: wet method and funace method. The first one is use for fertilizer prodction and the second is use for other purpose such as food of animals and etc. I think edible phosphoric acid is the acid which is produced by the seconf method!
