Hay all,

I have completed the Hydraulic Design of my column and am now moving on to the Mechanical Design. However it seems there are British Standard pipe size (even for column diameters of 7.5ft and 10ft as mine are!)

However I cannot find any information on these. Any tips of internet resources or where I am able to get this kind of information, and how to proceed regarding this!

Thanks

Henry

Henry,

First of all : is this a class project? Because while doing the design of columns, you need to take care of several internals like feed distributor etc. The size of the nozzles depend on the internals. I can give you more help only when I have such information.

Since you started your design with Kister's books, I'd recommend you to switch to "Distillation Operation" sections related to column inlets and outlets, reboiler connections etc.
These are chapters 2, 4, 5, and 7.
