Hi people... i hope u can help me with this...
I want to know where can i find te basics about calculation and design of a chlorine absortion (neutralization) tower using NaOH as the neutralizing agent...
The problem is that the tower im evaluating is a non packed tower with 3 lines of NaOH sprinkling nozzles, the chlorine to neutralize enters at the bottom of the tower and it react with the drops of NaOH as it rises to the top of the tower... I have no experience with this specific kind of non packed tower... so if you know where i can find info about this to do the basic calculations to perform an evaluation or redesign it will be very appreciated....
P.D Excuse my bad english im from Venezuela....

HI
I guess you are working in a sodium hypochlorite manufacturing unit.
the reaction between chlorine gas and sodium hydroxide is as follow:
Cl2 + 2NaOH ===> NaClO + NaCl + H2O
oxi/red reaction with controling the endpoint by ORP .
control of reaction temperature and endpoint time is very important.
what you want to know exactly?
