Hi to all
Can some one explain how we can change default properties of Hysys for pure fluids like sea water. Hysys defualt properties are for normal water. How we can enter prhysical properties for sea water in Hysys to perform calculations.
Thanks

Hysys has properties for pure water in its component library. Sea water is not a pure component, nor a pure fluid, as you call it. If you want to use components that are not in Hysys' component library, you need to define your own, which are called hypothetical components, or hypos, in Hysys-speak. Read the Simulation Basis manual for more info.

Dear,
If you have the sea water analysis you add all those impurities to a pure water stream with the help of the mixer operation and note the properties of the resultant/outlet stream of the mixer. Hope this could solve your problem. If the impurities/components are not listed in the hysys component library you can use hypotheticals as suugested by Joered.

You would probably need an electrolyte property package to get something reasonable, however.

Dear,
Yes Jored is right to treat the model of sea water you need to have Electrolyte OLI license. Quite long back I reported one incident regarding the Sea Water Treatment Simulation when I was in Algeria. I got the nice reply giving the detailed simulation configuration recommendations. I am just giving you the incident number and link so that you could find the same on aspen tech website.
