diya,

Benzene alkylation for production of Ethylbenzene is quite a mature technology. You may have a look at http://cn.cbi.com/lu...thylbenzene.pdf for Lummus/UOP process.

Here are a couple of references. I found the 2 first articles online

Alkylation of aromatics with ethylene and propylene: recent developments in commercial processes, Thomas F. Degnan, Jr, C. Morris Smith and Chaya R. Venkat, Applied Catalysis A: General 221 (2001) 283–294

Combining alkylation and transalkylation for alkylaromatic production, Carlo Perego and Patrizia Ingallina, Green Chem., 2004, 6, 274–279

Handbook of Petrochemicals Production Processes, Robert A Myers, McGraw & Hill, 2005, ISBN
0071410422 / 9780071410427 --> description of several different ethylbenzene processes.

Hope this helps

Ollie
