Greetings All,
My name is Raad Assaf, I am a recent graduate chemical engineer working at a chemical facility. I would like to know of a resource that covers sizing of conservation vents. we have a number of storage tanks that are going to be changed to conservation vents with HEPA filters and I want to verify that the nozzle available can handle the venting requirements.

Thanks in advance!
Raad

Raad
API-2000 covers the calculation of vent flowrates required for "atmospheric" storage tanks. I note in your post that you seem to be suggesting that you will pipe your vent flows through HEPA filters. That raises a big red warning flag to me. A filter will take a pressure drop. You must determine the pressure holding capabilities of your atmospheric tanks, akin to the MAWP for a pressure vessel, and confirm that these pressure will not be exceeded during a relief event.

I doubt any device potentially blocking conservation vent is allowed.
Please check and confirm.
