Hey all,
I'm inquiring as to if anyone is aware of the various international standards as it relates to Retention on Cuttings (ROC) for the off-shore disposal of synthetic oil-based muds. I have mainly come across the EPA regulations relating to the Gulf of Mexico operations.
o Dumping permitted of cuttings drilled in ester-based synthetic oil-based muds that retain a maximum of 9.4% oil on cuttings by weight.
o Dumping permitted of cuttings drilled in non-ester-based synthetic oil-based muds that retain a maximum of 6.9% oil on cuttings by weight.

I am also aware that in the UK sector of the North Sea, all dumping of drilled cuttings has been eliminated.

I am also aware of best available technology being able to reduce the percentage that is disposed on cuttings.

Any guidance or assitance as to where I can find any other standard percentages adhered to throughout the world, would be greatly appreciated.

Nick
