Hi!
Well, I would like to know what it's the method to calculate the amount of Soda Ash necessary to regulate the pH in a water solution (batch process)?. Is there any mathematical form?
Sometimes I have a pH of 4 or 5 in the water solution, and I want to reach pH 7.
I'm going to use Dense Soda Ash from FMC Chemicals.
Are there any tips of how to pour and mix the Soda Ash? I've heard that sometimes it granulates if you are not mixing it constantly.

Just one more thing, If I want to keep a solution of Soda Ash with water in a storage tank, do I have to always maintain it hot and mixed?
Because I tried to storage it in a tank, and all the soda ash within minutes settled down.
Even thoug I keep it constantly mixed, it formed a kind of inverted cone of hard ash (due to the form of agitation).
I'm mixing 50 gallons of water with 50 pounds of dense soda ash (From FMC Chemicals).

As long your solution is kept below the limit of solubility it will be fine . It's never easy to dissolve this material , you need to have a good contact between water and the solid with a good agitation . Add the solid progressively to the water .
Question : Why not using light soda ash ? Cheaper and easier to dissolve .
