Does anyone have any information on the hydroxylation/oxidation of ethylbenzene?? For example possible products or catalyst used?? What are the pro's and cons of this reaction??

Thank You

Ethylbenzene oxidation is the first reaction in the PO/SM (or SM/PO) process, designed to produce propylene oxide with styrene as a by-product. There is extensive litterature on this reaction, but I am really not a specialist.

You have some business oriented descriptions of this process in consultant reports (Nextant, SRI), for further details there is for instance a patent by Shell on how this oxidation step is performed. Refer to patent EP 1 932 583 A1
You will certainly find more documentation on internet quite easily.

Hope this helps,

Ollie.
