Sour gas sweetening using MDEA, can it possible without using continuous dosing of MDEA , where foaming is a great problem?
If possible , under what operating parameters should be adjusted.

Regards.

Foaming lead to loss of MDEA at column (you have not mentioned absorption or regeneration column). MDEA dosing (i suppose it is a make-up) is to make up the losses and maintain constant MDEA volume in the loop. Without MDEA make-up will results insufficient of MDEA within the loop and trip on low level.

The issue is foaming and you should target on reduce foaming in the column i.e injecting anti-foam agent.

My problem is in absorption column., as regenarator column is less likely to cause foaming.
I want to know without continuous dosing of antifoam, is it possible to run the MDEA based sour gas sweetening plant, if so what precautions should I must take .
Thank you for your time.
Regards.
