Hi,

Glycol contactor:

The amount of water from the outlet of contactor is given, but i need to know the water content in the inlet. For this the document says that the inlet gas is saturated with water vapor. kindly guide me in finding the inlet water content. Also need to know how glycol injection rate should be calculated.

For calculating the amount of water at contactor inlet conditions, you need to know:

- Gas pressure
- Gas temperature
- Gas composition

Then refer to GPSA or Campbell's charts for determining the amount of water in the gas stream.
Glycol circulation rate is dependent on glycol purity and the number of theoretical stages used in contactor design. You can find those data in the abovementioned literature as well.

If you are using HYSYS, for the given stream mix with water and put in separator. if the separator outlet water stream shows water then the gas at outlet of separator is saturated. Increase the quantity of water till you get free water in the separator outlet water stream.

Amount of glycol required for dehydration depends on the purity of glycol, temperature etc. Refer to campbell for details.
