Dear all,
I am involved in design of vortex breaker for crude oil storage tank liquid side outlet. Tank height - 22 mtrs & Diameter - 110 mtrs, Outlet nozzle size is 48". Being no enough liquid submergence,I have to do alternate design to avoid vortex formation. Can anybody having more experience & exposure in this design can forward their suggestion, calculation, excel sheets & post their replies ASAP Email ID - viswa7109a@yahoo.co.in. * How to relate froude number & reynolds number what are values & range to be followed?
Thanks in advance.

Hai Thanks
I already refered this thread, I want to prove the client with calculation that vortex will not form,Please forward if you have any calculations

I do not know any empirical relation to calculate this (and how to account for geometry) - the only way I can see to accomplish the task is running CFD simulation and applying VOF (volume of fluid) multiphase model, which is suitable for free surface flows (in past I applied this to obtain vortex surface in an unbaffled stirred tank).
Hope this helps.
