Dear all,

Can anyone teach me how to calculate the heat loss for a bare stainless steel pipe? I want to know the temperature change along the pippe length in order to decide if I need insulate the pipe. The water tmeperature inside the pipe is 25 degC, windspeed is 5m/s. Ambient temperature is 10 degC. The lowest accepted temperature of water is 16 degC, I know the farthest destination the pipe needs to go, not sure if the temperature is still higher than 16 degC after travelling.

Thanks and Regards,

Blue

Hi ,
Sorry to tell you that nobody will teach you , you need to find ressources like "process heat transfer " from Kern or Perry's chemical engineers' handbook or free book from internet J.H lienard "heat transfer".
Then you can use this software :http://www.cheresources.com/inssoftwarezz.shtml

Hope it helps you Breizh
