I have the data for packed column for SO3 absorption in the H2SO4 plant (absorption with reaction) and I need to calculate the height of packed in a new column. The concentration of SO3, volume flow rate of gas and liquid, packing type and column diameter will be different for the new column. Is there a easy way to calculate the new packing height, without using the mass transfer rate equations??

Thank you in advance for helping me.

And how do you think to do that without mass transfer calculation/simulation?

I was thinking about dimensional analysis, the value of all parameters will be in the same order of magnitude (+/-20%).

There is different concentration of SO3, different volumetric flow of gas and liquid phase, different packing characteristics. No pro-rating calculations are possible, in my opinion.

Thank you for your advices I will perform the mass transfer calculation to solve this problem.
