Dear all

Currently I am using petrosim (same as hysys) for refinery modeling. I have prepared a very big complicated flowsheet having may be more than 100-120 operations in different hierarchy. Now many times it happens that one or two blocks doesnt get solved. And the problem is i dont find any report where it says that this blocks are not solved/converge. (typically the problem is with recycle blocks) and with these many operations its really difficult for me to check all the blocks color (as change in the color is identification whether block is solved or not) may be one fine day i will be color blind by looking at these colors.

Does anybody has face this problem? Or is anything i have to set so that petrosim will throw the solver status for each block?? I am really frustrated with this.

any help related to this will be appreciated

Thanks in advance
Suhas Nehete

Have you tried to simulate it with less blocks, I mean make the simulation a little less smaller, less operations, etc and if it gets solved, add more operations.

Thanks dear.. But it cant be done. As its a integrated flowsheet... Our obetive to prepare this flowhseet is to have a integrated model for whole unit... Hence not possible to convert it back to small small flowhsheet as it has integration...

Don't know about Petrosim, but in Hysys, at the bottom left corner of the screen, there is the "Status Window" which shows you warnings and errors if blocks are not solved or reach maximum iterations. Also, in the Workbook, you can define a page with all the Recycle operations on it, and choose their solution status as one of the displayed variables. Perhaps you can do something similar in Petrosim. Otherwise, call KBC and see what they suggest (please post back once you find out, others may have the same problem).

Thanks Dear
Reply window doesnt show all the warning and status all the time.. I dont know why?? but whatever.. Actually I like your second idea to display the solver status of all the recycle block in workbook...

Thanks

If you are having issues exclusively with Recycles, then I often use the Simultaneous Solver Manager view to quickly see how all the recycles and adjusts are behaving (Simulation toolbar option - Simultaneous Solver Manager). The All Adjusts and All Recycles show a handy overview of all the convergence status of those operations in your entire flowsheet.

I believe the issue with operations not always posting their status to the status window has been fixed in the latest Petro-SIM releases.

Thanks Darren
I have tried the simultaneous solver manager. and its works but slightly more time consuming as i have to go through all hierarchy and check. If petrosim has fixed this issue that will be great.. I will check out latest version

Thanks

With the simultaneous solver manager view you shouldn't have to click through all the flowsheet heirarchy, that would be a bit of a pain. If you choose the "All Adjusts" or "All Recycles" level on the tree then it will list all operations in all subflowsheets.

Thanks Darren... Finally got rid of all the pain...
