Hello,
I posted this in another thread and have not received any responses, perhaps it was in the wrong place.
Hypothetically, I have an open system where fluid (water) is flowing into a reservoir and exiting the reservoir at the same rate. The reservoir contains a solute of interest. I would like to know if it's appropriate to use the dilution ventilation equation (http://en.wikipedia....ution_(equation)) to determine how much of the solute is left after time, t.
ln(Cfinal/Cinitial) = [-Q/(K*V)]*(tfinal-tinitial)
Q = flow rate
V = volume
K = mixing factor
Assume that the solute is completely miscible with water, what would be an appropriate value for k, the mixing factor? Is there a reference where I can get an idea of mixing factor for certain type of solutes?
If this equation is inappropriate for this situation, please advise on the correct model with reference. Thanks.
