Hello all,

I Am currently working in Sulphuric Acid Plant but studying distillation, as my future goal is to work in downstream area of Oil and Gas field.

In distillation I am stuck up at the concept of how exactly temperature and pressure profiles are being developed?

I would like to understand how exactly temperature and pressure difference across each tray is being created in distillation column, bottom being high temperature and pressure and low at the top of the distillation column?

Kindly help me in understanding the concept of the T and P profiles being formed. Thank you.

Pressure profile results from the pressure drop over the column due to the upwards flowing vapor through the trays, or the packing.

Temperature on each (theoretical) tray is the bubble point temperature of its liquid, as well as dew point temperature of its vapor.

As the liquid and vapor composition changes from tray to tray in a column, so does the temperature of each tray, therby creating the temperature profile over the column.
