As part of my final year degree I'm designing a water injection system for an offshore platform. I've got to design a de-aeration tower and have opted for a vacuum deaerator (due to the platform operating a non-continuous flaring regime). I'm trying to remove Oxygen from the water to prevent corrosion and bacterial growth.
I'm struggling to find any sort of design guidelines. I'm looking to calculate mass transfer variables such as HTU and NTU, the packed column height, the column diameter, the vacuum pump requirements etc but I'm not sure where to start.
Just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a useful resource - it seems this subject is more of a vendor operation so I'm struggling.
The only thing I can assume is that Henry's Law will be important - a good estimate of the gas solubility. A 2 stage process would obviously be preferable but I have no idea how to actually design the column.
Any help or guidance would be superb.
Currently the only feasible information I've got is in a journal "Vacuum degasifier: comprehensive modelling and simulation" but I'm not sure how credible a source it is.
Thanks!

@Breizh
Yeah, but there was no reply to that post, and i have exactly the same question. I don't think there is any problem with posting again!

Thanks Breizh, but these are all general explanations, they don't provide design calculation methods and equations.

Hi, I did contact several companies... They just give me the final answers not the calculation methodologies!

Gohar.m,
I attatched information related for your question.
The archive "Water Deaeration", is from the book: "Absorption and Stripping", by P. Chattopadhyay, Edited by: Asian Books Private Limited, New Delhi, 2007.
The archive "Vacuum Deaeration" has some references of articles (papers) about your questions, many of them you can found in the web.
