Sir

I am having a closed loop cooling water pump, with a rated capacity of 600 m3/hr at 5.7 bar and maximum operating tempearture of 49 deg C.

Below is the analysis of the water:
Iron as Fe <0.5
Aluminium as Al <1.0
Copper as Cu <0.1
Silica as SiO2 <150
Manganese as Mn <0.5
Oil and Grease <5.0
Ammonia as NH3 <0.2
Calcium as CaCO3 <500
Magnesium as CaCO3 <200
Phosphate as PO4* <0.2*
Chromate as CrO4 <0.005
Chloride as Cl <50
Sulphate as SO4 <50
Zinc as Zn* <0.05*
Total Suspended Solids as TSS <10
Total Organic Carbon as C <5
Free Chlorine as Cl2 <1.5
Fluoride as F <0.05
Conductance as *Siemens/cm** <2000

Based on this, I have selected a cast iron-casing and a bronze impeller. Is it okay? Design life required is 20 years.

Regards

Vinod
