Dear All,

I have to Design Conical Roof Type Storage Tank (Approx. 46m Tank Dia. by 19m Ht.).As tank is big so it is to be supported ( Roof) by Truss Frame Type structure.Can anybody send me some reference design cal.If i can get reference of design using Staad Pro analysis it will further much better for me.

A cone roof atmospheric storage tank is often designed and made according to API 650 (Welded steel storage tanks), especially in refineries. I had once a brief look at this "Recommended practice" and do not remember any mention to truss structure application, nor Staad Pro. It gives a lot of guidelines, mainly on construction.

Hey there sir Ashish Pande......I am also doing a project of Designing an oil storage tank using API-650 and BS-2654.....it is a 20m Dia & 10m height tank with structure supported roof.......i have made a self taught model in staad pro v8i and applied some loads on the structure ...... the thing is how do i interpret the results......when i apply unity check all the members are safe.....now what does this unity check performs, how will i interpret it to my teacher.......i viewed the staad help but it is not understandable for a newbie like me ......i read the above mentioned codes and calculated the shell and base but there are no guide lines on supporting structure.....any help please.....!!!!!!!
