I'm working on trying to size a coalescer for a batch process. All the coalescer material I could find in Perry, Ludwig etc. seems to concentrate on continuous flow coalescers.

Wondering if there are any tips / heuristics on how to size a batch coalescer. The points I am wondering about are some way to predict how long the phase separation might take and to what separation efficiency. Also what sort of vessel geometry, aspect ratios / internals do I need (probably something similar to a flow coalescer?)

The organic / aqueous fluids to be separated have been tested on a lab setup; but not sure which invariant parameters to use for scaleup.
