My company is planning to construct a plant and the easiest access to the construction site would be very close to the flare that we have. We have been told that the acces route may not be safe and a radiation zone analysis of the zone needs to be done before access from that route is allowed.
Can somebody please enlighten me about the radiation zone of the flare and the dangers it posses for us.

I suggest you should be looking for either international or national standards, which means if you are in Britian you would be looking at british standards , if you are in India you would be looking at Indian Standards, or you could follow genral guidelines. Like whats the temperature of the flare, what material is used, how much surface area is exposed and what material is used. which will give you rough estimate of how much heat is going to be given out in the surrounding radius you would be looking for access to your plant. You could prabaly not follow any standards as they might not be safe in your working area and atmosphere, you probably know what I mean.
