Hello,

I have a control valve with a liquid Cv which I am trying to simulate in PIPESIM by modelling the valve as a choke valve.   I have done this by inputting a 'Flow Coefficient' value in the choke valve input data tab within Pipesim, and have given a 'bean size' as the valve opening.  The valve Cv is 10.2, however when I run the simulation an error is given which says that the inputted Cv must be between 0-5.  I have contacted Schlumberger tech support who say that the valve flow coefficient is unitless.  I was under the impression that flow coefficient normally has the units of USGPM/psi of water at some temperature.  Has anyone simulated a control valve in Pipesim before, and if so what is the best way to go about it? I have the valve datasheet.  Any help appreciated.

Cheers

James

Tech support is correct Cv is a unitless value.
