Dear all,

I am in FCC unit, where we have debutanizer. This column has two reboilers in parallel, heating sources are hp steam and HCO pumparound (HCO PA) from main fractionator. After getting cooled in the naphtha splitter reboiler, HCO PA is comes to debutanizer reboiler. HCO PA flows in the shell side of the debutanizer reboiler. The HCO PA debutanizer reboiler has two shells in parallel, both tube and shell side flow is controlled by FIC. The debutanizer reboiling is controlled by TIC at bottom by varying steam flow to reboiler and the HCO PA flow to other reboiler is constant. My doubt is that the bypass of this reboiler is given as PDIC. Pls inform if any further information is required.

The question is that why the PDIC control is required across the reboiler for HCO PA.

Hello, Mr Satyendra. We are engineers and we are not so good with long stories. Please can you provide a sketch that captures a picture of what you are saying. Am sure as soon as you provide a sketch many forum members will quickly respond to your question. Cheers

May be HCO PA not only  used in the  debutanizer reboiler there may be  another user , hence PDIC  across debutanizer reboiler  will limit HCO PA flow thro rebolier. Detailed PID will help us to describe more clearly.
