Prepared this simple spreadsheet for sizing steam control valve, using information furnished by supplier and ANSI standards.

Wanted to know, if there is any better spreadsheet program available on the forum for CV sizing ?

I noticed that in the case of "Choked" condition ( X < X_choked ) your spreadsheet does not limit the flow by the critical pressure drop ratio. What I mean is in the case of a choked condition the expansion factor, Y, theoretically should be 0.67, coming from X=X_choked. For doing this, each time you will have to check the actual pressure drop ratio, X, against the critical pressure drop ratio, X_choked. If X is greater than X_choked then you have to use X to calculate the flow coefficient, Cv. Otherwise, you have to use X_choked as the sizing pressure drop ratio.

 

In that case, I calculated the Cv for your given information to be 22.8.
