Internal Floating Roof Tanks

Dear colleagues 

for internal floating roof does it need to consider the nitrogen blanket

i mean maybe we have leakage from rim seal 

do we have any standard or criteria to use nitrogen for internal floating roof?

 

Second question

do we consider the roof failure as case 

if the roof failure happen what kind of protection we should consider?

Mike,

 

As far as I know, there is no specific standard for using N2 blanket in IFR...

 

It's supposed the rim seal has no leakage and any vapor would be released through the rim vent...

 

What do you mean by roof failure? Please specify the type of failure...

roof failure means due to some problem roof don move upward and downward with fluid ,and in this situation when we start to empty the tank with pump (out breathing)vacuum happen ,or when we start to fill the pump (breathing)pressure increase and cause to damage the

What you described, don't appear to be roof tank failure for an IFR. It is natural when the roof would move upward or downward due to filling or emptying...please clarify with a reasonable detail...

Can we consider the possibility of internal roof damage and don’t move upward or down ward?

my question is if this case happen for example when  the pump started to empty the tank ,in general condition  the roof move down ward with fluid , but what happen if the roof don’t move downward? i think vacum will be happen under the roof
