Spiderman is able to climb walls like a gecko. if we assume that spiderman has the same ability of gecko and climb walls via " van der waals" forces. Calculate the following:

a) the magnitude of van der waals forces needed to achieve this goal.

B) the corresponding surface area of contact between spiderman fingers and the wall.

Assume spiderman has a mass of 55kg and his fingers are made of Polydimethysiloxane (PDMS) and he is trying to stick to glass window made of silica.

This may be a valiant attempt to have your engineering homework done by experts while you reap the grade, but unfortunately our Forums are not here to do the homework of others.

 

You may attract the attention of a naive engineering student who thinks he can out-do you by furnishing an answer, but that would be up to you to believe the response.

 

You will find our members have always volunteered and come forth with help and recommendations leading up to a successful answer - but only when the OP (original poster) clearly states his position and furnishes ALL of his/her research, study, and calculations showing that the required student work input and THINKING has been done and applied.   Furnish all your work and study done on this problem and you will find that our members will respond with helpful advice.  But, most importantly, respond as a future engineer: with clear, specific, and accurate data, calculations, and information.
