Dear all,

We are faced with some challenges which I believe if one has PIPESIM or any pipe flow simulator, it would be a piece of cake. Getting into the problem, a contractor has constructed an oil gathering manifold (OGM) which needs to be commissioned. However, the number of wells available so far, is only three. The owner has therefore, asked project management consultancy to evaluate the possibility of commissioning the OGM with these threes wells.

The worry is the jelling of the crude should the pressure and the temperature  drop below the pour point (39.9 degree Celsius) and the minimum required landing pressure at the other OGM. Here, the OGM to be commissioned is connected to an existing OGM. So the calculation by PIPESIM would involve the following:

1. determine the average land pressure and temperature the first on OGM

2. Use the average values of pressure and temperature from the first OGM to determine the final values of temperature, pressure and the fluid velocity in the trunk line going to the second OGM
