Dear

For AES type (R-Class) S&T heat exchanger, how to calculate velocity at the inlet of the shell nozzle? and is there any standard for  maximum velocity in the shell side and tube side to maintain?

Thank you,

Regards,

Sameer

You can find equations at www.gulleyassociates in the engineering tips section. Look for "Calculate shell nozzle pressure drop". It will give you equations for the shell entrance or exit area. From this you can calculate the  velocity at the inlet of the shell nozzle.

For maximum velocities you can search this website for answers.
