I don't know what your educational or engineering experience is and your description of the so-called "liquid" is not detailed.

I suspect that what you bought was a vial or bottle of MERCURY (also known as "quick silver") - a liquid metal at ambient conditions of temperature and pressure and one that can coat some metals like copper.   I highly recommend that you carefully research the properties of what you bought and what you are toying around with.  You can find out all about mercury in the internet - especially its properties as a potential posionous substance.

If you don't accurately know what a substance is, you shouldn't be toying around with it.  Don't ASSUME anything.  The word assume simply means that you might make an ass out of u and me.
