what are advantages and disadvantages of using caustic soda as a solvent instead of amine in natural gas sweetening process ?

Soda cannot be regenerated easily, since the chemical bond is very strong.  Hence, you have to deal with spent caustic.

Don't have that extensive experience in gas sweetening to say that it is not used, but I've only seen caustic soda for CO2 and H2S removal in ethylene plants where the amount to be removed is very low
