Dear Experts,

I have a scenario where a Gas Pipeline has to enter the Gas plant boundaries at one end while the receiving facilities (Pig Receiver & Slug-catcher) are located at other end of the facilities.

I am looking for clear guidelines as I am not comfortable about running the Pipeline (&PIG) through the plant along with other process piping and conflict between 31.3 and 31.8 use in facilities or spec break location.

I believe B31.3/ B31.8 specification break should occurs at the fence or occurs at the “first flange” upstream/downstream of the Barred Tee if pipeline pig traps are used located on the line prior to start of Process Piping.

Thank you for your guidance.

Almasoud,

You cannot use pipeline standard instead process piping standard due to different scope, characteristics and applications.
