Dear Sir/Madam,

We are trying to design salt dryer to remove haze from gasoil.

Water content is 3000 ppm and we want to reduce to below 100 ppm.

We are planning to install coalescer and salt dryer since our operating condition is 50 deg C from unit process and the lowest ambient temperature is 25 deg C. CaCl2 will be used as salt bed.

Do have basic design consideration for salt drier such as:

a. Maximum liquid velocity?

b. Minimum residence time?

c. typical water content outlet salt dryer?

Regards,

DW

My recollection is that NaCl is typically used for salt dryers for gasoil and kerosene (jet fuel). Your salt supplier can be helpful.

Dear Bobby,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Do you have any reference regarding:

a. Maximum liquid velocity?

b. Minimum residence time?

c. typical water content outlet salt dryer?

Hello Daniwibowo,  Were you able to complete this project? I have the same task needing to be completed. Here below is the details if someone can assist me on how to size the salt dryer vessel.

Diesel flow rate: 163095 lb/hr

temperature: 90 F

Pressure: 70 psig

Fuel dissolved inlet water: 88ppm

Outlet water content: 10 ppm for 8400 hr operation.

I need to know the volume of rock salt required to size the dryer.

Thanks guys!

You should contact your salt provider for sizing information. And you may want to look at using KCl. You might also want to engage the service of an engineer who can design the system for you.

Hello Bobby,

What is KCI? Is that a company? do you have their website? as googling KCI brought so many web pages that are unrelated. I have also contacted several engineers and they're all not having experience in designing a diesel salt dryer. Do you have a book or any reference material that might help me?

Thanks,

Tony

Thank you Pilesar. Our customer will be using NaCl or CaCl2 salt

Try searching for kerosene salt dryer design. You should find OxyChem who makes salt briquets for salt dryers. And they probably will give you design details.

Hi,

You may consider this reference and technical data available on their website :

http://www.quadrimex...f-hydrocarbons/

note : you may find pointers in the document attached related to NG dehydration !

Good luck
