Dear All Master,

I am facing difficulties to define the nozzle size for PVRV (Pressure Vacuum Relief Valve) on external floating-roof tank.

As my understanding, nozzle size is defined based on inbreathing and outbreathing calculation which mentioned in API 2000, however I noticed that API 2000 does not apply to external floating-roof tank.

Does anybody know what kind of STD and CODE can be referred and how to define the nozzle size and PVRV for external floating-roof tank?

Detail tank as follows:

Service : Mobile Gasoline

SG : 0.77

tank size is 28m (ID) x 18m (H)

Capacity : 8000 m3

Design Pressure : FOL + 714 mmH2O

Load in rate : 850 m3/hr (12in Liquid inlet nozzle)

Load out rate : 160 m3/hr (8 in Liquid outlet nozzle)

Your advise is highly appreciated.

Regards

Hadi,

The External floating roof needs a PV vent for when it is taken off float or during initial fill before it is floating. Hence the PV vent is to be sized based on maximum liquid in/out rates which should be reflected to the relevant data sheet submitted to reputable vendors in order to sizing and selection.
