Hello everyone,

 

I had a question regarding the Tg range of a copolymer. How can the Tg range of the copolymer be different then the Tg values of the original polymer.

 

For instance if polymer 1 has a Tg value of 10°C, and polymer 2 has a Tg value of 20°C. How can the Tg range of the copolymer be from 5-25°C?

 

I understand that in order for the copolymer to occur, the two polymers must be mixed well, changing its characteristics, and forming a block polymer. However i don't understand why/how that changes the copolymers glass transition range.
