Hi,

I am working on optimization of instrument air in our plant. Looking for leakages is the simplest way for reduce consumption. We have also started looking for oscillatory response of control valves, so that the control can be fine tuned. How can we approximate the amount air being consumed by a valve say for example fisher make actuator 667, size 30, with 3582 positioner, operating from 45 to 50 % range with 10 oscillation per hour?

Also what are the other ways to look for optimizing instrument air in plants running for last 20 years?

Regards

Hi ,

Why this study now ? Do you have issues with air compressors, air dryers ……?

Is your air compressor operating more often compared to before ? Do you have data to support like flow rates ?

Definitely a good habit to stop leaks and improve the tuning of the valves but this should not reduce your air consumption very much .

Do you have a good maintenance plan for rotating equipment to ensure reliability and efficient operation ?

my thoughts .
