Hi,

Does anyone knows how to find the number of tubes needed for a 150m3 of packed bed reactor?

Ours are just big heat exchangers, so use a single pass, heat exchanger tube count table.  Perry's has them, other books do too, like Process Heat Transfer by Donald Q. Kern.

I also have an old correlation that may help:

Do = 1.75do(nNPT)0.47

do     tube diameter, inch

n       number of tubes per pass

NPT   number of tube passes per shell

Do     inside shell diameter, inch

It's for a packed floating-head exchanger.  It will differ slightly for a fixed tube sheet, U-bend, or multi-pass exchanger.
