Major advancement is required in catalyst, process engineering development to achieve the goal.

The problem is those finetuned catalysts are licensed and protected (not saying that they cannot be reinvented) but a hard nut to solve. Chemistry is a little hard but, synthesis steps are relatively inexpensive But need facilities for micro-nano characterization, for iterative testing.

Need to have a small scale, pilot, larger plant: What works on a small scale might not work in a pilot plant or in a large scale. So scaling up would be also another problem.

Have to ensure the process meets high explosion safety standards for the reactor and subsequent operation process. Need to find the safe parameter space.

Good thing NASA has some small-scale experience.
