Hi All,

 

I was part of a conversation whether we need API heaters or we can install non-API in a NGL fractionation unit in Alberta, Canada. API 560 is for fired heaters for refinery general service and part of the debate it's not a refinery, it's NGL fractionation. When it comes to safety, design and operations, what are the main differences?

You best use API standard for construction. If you don't you need to consult your insurer and local authorities with jurisdiction of such matters.
