1. The critical design parameter is to limit the velocity of crude for each slot of not more than 1 m/s. (3 ft/s).
2. From the flowrate, determine the total number of slots required to meet the velocity limit. Typical length of slot is 12" and the slot width may range from 4" to 8" depending on the total flowrate.
3. Do trial and error to determine the total length of distributor that meet the tank diameter and the velocity criteria.
4. Unable to provide more details (drawings) due to proprietary nature of the information but use you creativity in the design.
5. I suggest that you prepare the proposed sketch (drawing) based on your creativity for further comments and suggestion for further improvement since I have a typical figure of the distributor.
