using activated MDEA + PZ solution for natural gas decarbonization, what is the typical packing height for common structured and random packings, such as Pall rings or 250Y structured packing? Also, where can I find or look up empirical HETP (Height Equivalent to a Theoretical Plate) data。

Norton's empirical correlation, rough estimate for random packings

base on liquid phase 

Ln (HEPT)= n-0.187*ln (superficial tension) +0.213 *ln(viscosity)

 

HEPT in Feet

Superficial tension in dyne/cm

Viscosity in CPO

 

n=  depending on the choice of packing.

 

Ask Vendors for data on n 

 

A few examples (from Google AI mode)

 

Intalox Metal packing (IMTP size #40/#50) n=1.13 to 1.15 high-performance metal packing 

Pall Rings (2 inches/50 mm Metal /Plastic) n1.3 to 1.4

Rashig rings (1 inch, ceramic/metal n=1.55 to 1.7

Intalox saddles (1 inch/38 mm ceramic) n= 1.25 to 1.35
