laugh.gif Hello friend I am a chemical engineer working with a petrochemical compony and we problem with the cooling tower water i.e. in last 2 months we had two times hydrojetting of the condensers and coolers just because of the process side outlet temperatures of condenser and cooler were remaining high still after 25 days we are facing the same problem so i am giving details of the cooling tower please any recomandations by are welcome
Details
Local wheather condtion
WBT- 23 C (max) 18 C (min)
DBT-36 C (max) 32 C (min)
water circulation rate - 8000 m3/hr
Angle-9 degrees
Aproach- 7 C (design) 17-18 C (Actual what we are getting)
Sump/reservior level - 2500 m3
Nos. of fans - 3 (induced draft cooling tower)
(gear ratio motor rpm: fan rpm = 1:11)
We have V-bars of Polypropylene the dimensions are
1000 X 45 degrees X 50 X 50 mm
Cooling water pH- 7.4 (Supply to process and 7.8 of cooling water inlet to cooling tower)
So please if anyone is having good idea of cooling tower or the same experiance of the same i request you to come forward and suggest the solution for the same

padmakar,

have you checked the flow rate of cooling water thru the troubling heat exchanger? if it is less that the design flow the outlet temperature will go up. there can be many reasons of reduced flow e.g. throttled cooling water inlet and outlet valves, choking of tubes, reduced pump capacity, undersized exchanger etc.

regards.
