Sharif:

I make it a point not to do homework for lazy students.

In your case I am assuming that you have never been taught how to build a "railroad" - an old chemical engineering method of doing unit conversions.

Look at the attached document and study the way I have set up the conversion. First I draw a "railroad" - a horizontal line with vertical cross-ties. See how I manipulate the various equalities, representing them as "fractions" that are multiplied and their units are cancelling out and leaving the desired units. It is very simple to learn and to apply. Once you do it successfully, you will never do conversions any other way. It is logical; it is accurate; it can be easily checked; and it works without failure.

Now you do it with the "PPM" thread.

P.S. Spell tonne correctly next time.

Hello Sharif,

There's a very handy tool for unit conversion, developed by Harvey (Katmar?). You can download it by right-clicking the link and choosing "save as" option:

Yes, Harvey's conversion software is top notch but it doesn't help the student learn anything. Before the student can walk, he/she needs to learn to crawl.

I learned the technique Art has demonstrated in his attachment in my first chemical engineering class many, many, many, many years ago and it hasn't failed me yet.
