We have a Light naphtha isomerisation (ISOM) unit. Feed passes through a drier before entering the reactor. This drier has molecular sieves and on top of that 19mm balls are loaded. The direction of feed is from bottom to top.
We have seen this driers dislodging during pressure and flow fluctuations. Also we have seen molecular sieves flowing with the feed.
Has anybody encountered such problems in other units, if yes any remedial actions taken?

Sudheer,

Do you have bed limiters installed at the top of the bed? If not I would strongly suggest installing bed limiters at the top of the bed, by doing so, you will be able to restrict the movement of the bed.
