Dear Sir, Madam
Different ASME standards use “Flammable” and “Toxic” terms to classify fluids within piping component. This classification has some impact on Thickness of piping, Extent of testing and type of flange.
However there is not any clear definition within mentioned standards about such classification. There are some terms such as “Lower Flammability Limit”, “Upper Flammability Limit”, STEL and IDLH that quantify toxicity and flammability of given fluid however all of these terms refer to fluid after dispersion in the atmosphere and therefore it may not possible to use them to classify fluids within enclosed piping.
Please clarify such classification accordingly.
