Hi, I am new in the area of advance control, especially model predictive control (MPC). I would like to know if there are any good references that you all could recommend on the topic of model predictive control that is easy to understand? Appreciate if you could give me the references. Thanks.

Just would like to refer you honneywell website may be u wud get some good doc. coz they are one of the pioneers in APC (Advanced Process Control) system which basically based on PMC only.

Model Predictive Control (MPC) refers to a class of algorithms that compute a sequence of manipulatedvariable adjustments in order to optimize the future behaviour of a plant. A typical MPC has the following capabilities:
1. Capable of handling multivariable systems with process interactions.
2. Encapsulates the behaviour of multiple Single Input Single Output (SISO) controllers and de-couplers.
3. Utilizes a process model, i.e., a first order model or a step response data is required.
4. Incorporates the features of feedforward control, i.e., must be measured disturbance by taking in
consideration the model disturbances in its predictions.
5. Posed as an optimization problem and is therefore capable of meeting the control objectives by
optimizing the control effort, and at the same time is capable of handling constraints.
MPC technology was originally developed to meet the specialized control needs of power plants and
petroleum refineries, but it can now be found in a wide variety of application areas including chemicals,food processing, automotive, aerospace, metallurgy, and pulp and paper.

So, do you know of any references that might be useful to me? I need to work on model predictive control for my postgrad studies so I need some start up references to get me going as I am new to this topic.
