I have to design a packed tower for CO2 absorption Lab scale/Pilot plant . The gas specification being a follows
CO2 15-40%
CO 15-20%
H2 10-15%
N2 15-50%
This is approximate flue gas composition of biomass gasifier dependinf upon feed and gasification agent (Air or steam)

The gas flow rate 2000 lit/hr. @ 40 deg C. I plan to use 30% aq. Solution of MEA as there is no H2S present. I have gone through the standard text in e.g. S. M. Wallas (Chem Process Equipment- Selection and Design). Perry’s Handbook, Treybal etc. But the design examples cited use a leaner mixture (upto 10% CO2 ) and a certain article @cheresources http://www.cheresour...packcolzz.shtml too specifies that the design procedure for concentrated gas mixture (more than 10% CO2) is different for concentrated stream.

Can somebody outline the basic steps to be used in design and with the sources for VLE data (I have the Dechema series handbook though).
